1522 – Second World War between Catholics and Protestants in Germany.
1774 – A treaty of Rastad is signed between the Roman emperor and the king of France.
1775 – The treaty of Surat is signed between Raghunath Rao and the British Raj.
1799 – Napoleon captures Jaffa in Palestine.
1836 – San Antonio, Texas falls to the Mexican army after a 13-day siege. A total of 186 people were killed in the operation.
1899 – Felix Hoffman patents aspirin.
1902 – British troops are allowed to wear spectacles while on duty or at other times.
1930 – The first frozen food is marketed in London.
1944 – US forces begin bombing Berlin in broad daylight.
1956 – Morocco regains independence from France.

1974 – A treaty of peace is signed between the Roman emperor and the king of France.
1975 – Iran and Iraq signed the Algiers Agreement on the settlement of border disputes.

1812 – Birth of Ishwar Gupta, poet-editor.
1851 – Bamapad Bandyopadhyay is a well-known Bengali painter. (Died 03/04/1932).
1927 – Birth of Colombian Nobel laureate Gabriel Marquez.
1928 – Birth of Colombian Nobel laureate novelist Gabriel Marquez.
Death:
1900 – German inventor G. Daimler died at the age of 64.
1900 – Death of English chemist John Dalton.
1962 – Ambika Chakraborty, Bengali, revolutionary of the anti-British independence movement.
1971 – Death of American novelist Pearl S. Buck.
